Ombo - island showing heritage of Atlantis ?
Ombo is an island in Boknafjord, which is located in Rogaland County, Norway. The island is quite large and high, the highest mountain is Bandåsen up to 515 meters. From Bandåsen you can touch the sky, and you can see even Stavanger. There is a pier in Eidssund where the speed boats arrives from Stavanger, and quite often ferries to the pier also. There are about 30 islands in Bohnafjord. Some of them are well habitant.
Tourist like this island, both Norwegian and Germans. Norwegians often have summer houses where they spend summer vacations. Several local residents have houses for rent. It is cottages by the sea and the mountains. One of them Kjell Nes. Its services are evaluated by Germans tourists. They are apparently satisfied with price and services. They can rent boats for fishing in the fjord and get assistence, more information in : The Jørstadvåg Ferietun Eli und Kjell Nes in Ombo.
The island is large, but not much populated, there lives about 250 habitants. According to 1930 census here lived about 900. Resent years here have increased the number of arrivals from Lithuania.Norway is a country well known among emigrants.
The island is big and has a shop that is located in Eidssund. There is a school and kindegarten.
Local residents are mostly farmers and living from farming, by keeping dairy cows, sheeps, oxes and hens, some holding mink also. Norway is a rich country in every sense. And wages are high.Farmers play an important challenge for it to catch up.
Norway is rich in dialects, Ombo habitants speaking Nynorsk dialect, it is so cold second language of the country. Both languages have formed over a similar period, the nineteenth century. Nynorsk deals mainly in the south - western part of Norway and everywhere else reigns Bokmal. While Norway lived about 400 years with the Danish kingdom in itself has experienced Danish kingdom in itself has experienced Danish influence. Denmark has been the dominant side, so the Danish language Riksmol was transferred to Norway. Those who did not agree with the fact remained to Nynorsk. Why do not adhere Riksmol west do not know this is not an easy question to answer. Living in the west coast of Norway has often to yake a look to the weather forecasting. Because of the Atlantic wind and mountains it rains here quite often. So weather forecasting websites are perhaps even more necessary to visit than a Face book.
So after entering Ombo name on the website www.yr.no, we found that Ombo is not the only place in the World with that name. This service indicates as many as 45 places on Eath, mostly in Indonesia (13), Mauritania (1), Angola (8), Congo Kinshasa (1), Congo Brazzaville (1), Ghana (1), Mali (1), Senegal (1), Papua New Guinea (1), Egypt (4), Russia (2), Philippines (1), South Sudan (1), Kenya (1), Namibia (1), Zambia (1), Solomon Island (2).
You can agree this is not the norm that you can find so many duplicate matches. All of this makes me willing to explain, but how to do with all it ? I just do not know. Places, lakes and rivers names are usually the oldest;you can find out how places where populated.
More recently, two years ago I heard one. It seemed so incredible that you got the impression that this is a fairytale. The fact is that at the Bandåsen mountain peak is rich of rocks. I remember when I went up on the hill leaning to ate sandwiches and resting. I traveled with my family and Kjell and Elli Nes. Kjell said that these stones are not simle, and is carved with ancient writings. They were found by the Norwegian scientist Kjell Aarthun, which is an ancient languages specialist. He is Semitic languages expert, runes translator. He defended his doctoral thesis on the Ugaritic language. Is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science since 1986.In 2001 he was awarded by the Royal Gold Medal, Kongens fortjenstmedalje i gull, for achievements in interpreting the ancient Semitic language and culture. Later he received strong resistance from the world of science in Norway and its interpretations interpretedas a pseudo-science (1). But it is not so intresting.Better take a look what Aarthun saying. So I will try to describe his theory.
According Aarthun runes and similar to wham writings are written in a Semitic language, partially hieroglyphs and Linea A writing (2).Aarthun has found these writings on the Bandåsen mountain also. According to the Aarthun on the top of mountain found stones carving are Minoan cultural legacy. This text contains particularly erotic meaning, characteristic to Eastern fertility culture (3).How they reached Ombo? Ombo has not been their goal. It was only a trip stop. Apparently the island is a unique because of catchy relief. On one side it looks like boa swallowed an elephant from Sent Exupery tale of The Little Prince. Thus, their destination was not a Rogaland County, and it was the location near the Oslo, Kongsberg. There is silver mine. Ombo was only station to the Kongsberg mines. Recently in the Kogsberg area was detected sigs of the Minoan culture. This theory can explain why so much in the world places with Ombo names. Not only the Vikings traveled around the world and have left their marks, but the other cultures (Minoans) also. This influenced the local population, and these by taking over their (Minoans) knowledge of sailing, went to the trips later. However, how Minoans reached Kongsberg is not known. Now,what is known about Minoans? Minoans - pre-Hellenic Bronze Age civilization in the Crete and the Aegean Sea that flourished around 2700-1450 B.C. Later, the culture was overshadowed by Mycenaean culture. Judging from the Minoan art, Minoan culture characterized as matriarchy society and goddess worship.
The term "Minas" was created by the British archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans under the name of the mythical King Minos. Who is associated with the myth of the labyrinth? Labyrinth Evans took down to the location of Knossos. It is possible that the Minas were actually Minoans main title. It is not known how Minoans called themselves. Homer created Odyssey after the collapse of the Minoan civilization.
Minoan palace is the best-known type of the building of the Minoan civilization. It was a huge building used for the administrative purposes. As evidenced by the archaeologists find their archives. Chambers has been with lots of room, interior and exterior with stairs, massive colons, warehouse and courtyards. It is clear that Minoans were great sailors; they traded throughout the Mediterranean Sea. They have been specialized in metal trading.
Civilization was divided into three eras: Early Minoan, Middle Minoan and late Minoan.
In the late Minoan period was Tera eruption on Santorum island. The exact date of eruption is unknown. It is believed that it caused the rapid collapse of Minoan civilization.Possibly we can associate with the ancient Greek myth of Atlantis. According to Aarthun after Tera volcano invasion Minoans had to escape. One of the ways was Scandinavia, Norway, Ombo. This formaerly inhabited emigrants from 2000 B.C. are dominated by the 800 B.C., when they were assimilated by Scandinavians (4). Scientist say the former Minoan culture was Semitic and Aarthun managed to reconstruct the Linea A writings (5) and the Phaistos Disk secret (6),(7). Phaistos disk Clearly there are more approaches to interpret this mystery (8). There are also a number of scientist who have arguedin favor of the Bronze Age in southern Scandinavia appear Mediterraneans cultural presence. They show that there was an active communication between the two cultures(9). Kjell Aarthun announced his latest book Mehrsprachige altsemitische Kultinschrif too (10). So who wants to meet heritage of the Atlantis take a trip to the Ombo Island.
