Lithuania indens to launch shale gas exploration.Part two

Although the company Chevron was recognized the winner of the shale gas exploration , the company refuzed to paticipated in the shale gas exploration in Lithuania. The reasons for refuzal were not alone. In the half of the yaer was changed about 25 lows in governing this activity. The company has to invest about 80 milion lt in the procejct. The law changing will incrise investments and exploration will take longe time. Some Lithuanian MPs sudgested 40% tax for the shale gas and for the oil and gas 25%. Chevron said that charges will be dicriminatory. It is clearly big los for the Lithuania. It remains unclear how much that tip of gas we have. Even posibility to extract small amount of shale gas would make better bargaining position for Lithuania for talking with Gazprom. But this was lost. Theris no doubt that Russia tried to impect this proses. The press was flued with misleading information. Green organizations was used to focus public against Chevron. In this sence necesarelly to should be noted that Chevron withred from Romania also. Where local comunity made rebelion against Chevron. Shale gas exploration has been apruved by Poland and Great Britain curently. France opposed such energy sorses searches and Germany consult on its position. But came exiting news from Ukraina. Ukraina and Chevron has sind 10 bilion contract for the shale gas exploration. Kiev hopes to secore energy independens from Russia 2020. According to the agryment Chevron has right to exploat eria in the west part of Ukraina, Oleska eria. There can be 2.98 trilion cubic meters of shale gas. This contract was singt after agreement with British and Duch energy giant Shell and the U.S. company Exxon Mobile. ”Large scale implementation of projects with Shell and Chevron since 2020 will fully meet the demand for natural gas in Ukraine” the country’s president Victor Yanucovich said before the singing ceremony. Moscow send bill to Kiev with almost 1 billion dollar for Russian gas supplied. Moscow probably expressing the anger to Kiev’s affords to sing a free trade and association agreement with EU .Later this month it should take place in Vilnius summit. Russia has taken active reaction to the Lithuanian active participation in the preparation association’s agreement. Russia set ban for the Lithuanian dairy products import. We can conclude that Chevron has made decision to concentrate there investments Our neighbors Polish already has began to exploited shale gas field, Lembork, Pomeranian province .This achievement will brings the country to the industrial shale gas extraction. Lane energy Poland has extracted about 8 thousand cubic meters of gas per day.
